Maaken Northside Supervisor Ricky Thompson is a highly accomplished construction professional with decades of experience spanning both the UK and South East Queensland. A master solid plasterer and renderer, Ricky brings deep, hands-on expertise in coatings, with a particular specialisation in render systems and AAC walling solutions that are integral to modern townhouse and detached residential construction.
Born and raised in the UK, Ricky first joined Maaken over a decade ago under a skilled sponsorship arrangement, quickly establishing himself as a trusted in-house renderer known for his workmanship and reliability. Over multiple tenures with Maaken, he has progressed through roles as a renderer, team leader and Supervisor, before operating as an independent contractor to Maaken for many years on high-volume residential and townhouse projects.
Following a recent return from a hiatus back in the UK, Ricky re-joins Maaken with an even broader industry perspective and a strong understanding of both local and international construction practices. He maintains long-standing relationships with many of our key builder clients across South East Queensland, which supports streamlined communication on site, faster decision-making and smoother project delivery.
In his Northside Supervisor role, Ricky combines technical mastery in AAC and render with a people-first leadership style that resonates strongly with both trades and builders. Known for his calm, get-the-job-done attitude, he is a popular and respected presence on site, setting clear expectations, mentoring younger tradespeople and ensuring Maaken’s quality, safety and program standards are consistently met.
